Daniel is Head of Inflammatory Bowel Disease service at Eastern Health and Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He completed medical school (Monash 2001), then physician and gastroenterology training in Adelaide and Melbourne. In 2012 he completed his PhD (Monash), mentored by Professor Peter Gibson.

Daniel is one of Australia’s leading clinicians and researchers in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), conducting >2000 IBD consultations in private and public practice annually, providing experienced, innovative and personalised care. His other broader interests include functional and other general gastrointestinal disorders (eg IBS) and endoscopy, including capsule endoscopy.

Daniel’s research has been recognized by the prestigious national Young Investigator Award at the annual gastroenterology conference (AGW 2011) plus multiple other awards. Daniel has co-authored over 40 publications in international gastroenterology journals. He is a member of the ANZ IBD Consortium and the AIBDA executive Committee, overseeing National IBD clinical and research interests.

When not working, Daniel enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family, playing piano or watching the Bombers and/or European soccer on TV.
