Dr Rajesh Bhatia is a Gastroenterologist and Liver specialist with Eastern Health. He has more than twenty years of experience in his field. He completed MBBS (1988) followed by advanced physician and gastroenterology training (1995) from University of Bombay.
Dr Raj’s special interests include reflux, Barrett’s oesophagus, H Pylori disease and screening for associated gastric lesions. He provides endoscopy services for the National Bowel Screening Programme, iron deficiency anaemia and rectal bleeding.
He has conducted research in the epidemiology of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and is well versed in treating these patients.
He is proficient in the management of patients complaining of bloating, abdominal pain and food intolerances.
Raj is passionate about evaluating pancreatic and biliary disease. Advanced fellowship in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) from USA enables him to skilfully assess patients with pancreatic cysts, tumours and gall bladder pathology.
He is interested in management of fatty liver, Hepatitis B and C, haemochromatosis and other liver related conditions.
Raj is very engaging, considerate and provides patient focussed care. He believes in working as a team with GP’s and other specialists to provide a holistic approach to patient issues for best outcomes.
